Ok - So You Just Had A Tummy Tuck, Now How Long Does It Take To Recover
By Tim Gorman
When you are thinking of having a tummy tuck, you will usually think of the procedure, whether it is suitable and how much it will cost. But you also need to make sure that you think about the recovery time that you will need after the operation is complete. The recovery time from a tummy tuck can vary a great deal and it can be different from person to person. Some recovery from it very quickly, but others take a lot longer to get back to their full mobility after the operation. Your stomach can be quite painful after the procedure and although you will be given painkillers, this can mean that you will not be able to do much until the pain wears off.
You will need to leave at least a few days after you are back from the hospital before you plan anything, as a tummy tuck, although not a major procedure, can still leave you unable to do much for some time. When you leave the hospital your doctor will give you instructions as to what to do for the next few days and it is very important that you follow them very carefully. There is not point in trying to carry on your normal routine after you have had the operation, even if you do not like to have others look after you. It is much better to just take a few days and get well again so that you can make sure that you recover as soon as possible.
Even after the first few days of rest it is likely that you will not be able to do all of the things that you usually do, for some time. After the operation you stomach may not look as flat as you had hoped. This is because the surgery can cause it to swell. But this will not last too long and actually it will go back to what it should be. You will also need to do the activity that your doctor prescribes for you to get your self back in shape and make sure that it is a success. It can take anything up to half a year to receiver fully, but you can get really great results and if it is a procedure that you think that you will benefit from, then it can be well worth it.
